I am so grateful to the local food producers in Edgefield County. Personally, I am very concerned about our nation’s food supply, how it relates to nutrition and our healthcare. The average age of the American farmer today is 60. The barriers for the next generation to enter agriculture are significant as are the barriers for aging farmers to exit for retirement. Candidly, in my opinion, it is a national security issue which I believe needs to be looked at via higher levels of government.
I want to do everything I can to see local food production increased.
